The Riverside County Probation Department seeks to fill multiple Probation Assistant positions to support the Western Region of Riverside County. This posting has immediate openings in Riverside, Moreno Valley, San Jacinto and Murrieta. However, the list may be used to fill future vacancies throughout Riverside County.
The incumbent will be responsible to assist professional staff by performing a variety of routine, non-sworn support duties; and to perform other related duties as required. Competitive candidates will possess clerical experience in a law enforcement or criminal justice agency. Additionally, candidates with experience utilizing Juvenile Adult Management System (JAMS) are highly desired.
This journey level class reports to a Senior or Supervising Deputy Probation Officer and performs a variety of routine support duties for Deputy Probation Officers. Incumbents typically assist professional staff by performing routine data inquiries, extractions and entries in local and state law enforcement computerized databases. This class is characterized by the responsibility to assist Deputy Probation Officers (DPO) by monitoring and transporting clients and families, tracking case progress and advising of case status. Incumbents create, gather and distribute documents, files and records and may also conduct interviews to collect standard information and/or to provide routine information and instructions to clients and families.
