Local Unit & Position Description:
The BICC (Business Intelligence Competency Centre) Norway unit is part of the global BICC. It is a unit that is responsible for the development, maintenance and operation of DNV’s analytics platform, supporting needs for fact-based decisions across the DNV organization and providing DNV with trusted, refined and combined data for value adding insights.

We are seeking a BI Solution Architect preferably with experience of BI development for BICC Team based at Høvik , Norway to help us shape the future of our cloud Business Intelligence platform.

Position Qualifications:
Main responsibilities:

The main responsible will be to understand business requirement and make solution architectures fitting well with requirements
You will have exposure to the entire end-to-end BI solution lifecycle – one or more of these responsibilities:

  • BI solution design (preferred)
  • Data Warehouse design (Kimball approach) (preferred)
  • Developing, maintaining our ETL solutions in IICS
  • Developing, maintaining and documenting data models in Azure Analytics Services
  • Developing, maintaining and documenting reports and dashboards in Power BI
  • Implementing security concepts (row/column level security)
  • Troubleshooting, investigating, and improving existing BI solutions (3rd level support)
  • Contributing to our development best practices and finding new and creative ways to improve our way of working
  • Collaborating with local and international virtual teams, customers, and project stakeholders in an agile environment
  • Facilitating some training for the team and users

Position Qualifications:


To maximize your chances, you need:

  • Engineer’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree, in computer science, software development, mathematics or other relevant fields
  • Understanding of BI/DWH concepts and data modelling
  • Mandatory 5+ years of work experience with Data Warehouse design (Kimball approach) and/or ETL tools and/or DAX/Tabular modelling/Azure Analysis Services and/or Power BI or other reporting tools
  • Excellent SQL querying skills (ANSI SQL, T-SQL, etc.)
  • Experience in at least one ETL tool or reporting tool
  • Proficiency in English verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to write quality documentation for projects you are involved in

Additional nice to have:
  • Experience in working with MS Azure data platform
  • Experience working in an Agile environment and with tools like Azure DevOps, VSTS
  • Experience with Azure Synapse
  • Scripting experience in PowerShell, Python, etc.
