A prominent international Islamic institution is seeking an experienced Islamic investment banker for a Chief Executive Officer (Islamic) job in Kuala Lumpur.
About the Chief Executive Officer (Islamic) Role:
This position is ideal for someone with a background in Sukuk structuring, cross border asset origination and possesses proven senior management capabilities and strong passion in the Islamic Capital Market.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the institution’s long-term strategic plan in alignment with its long-term objectives
- Make decisions in all matters affecting the operations and performance of the institution in accordance with the strategy and long-term objectives of the institution
- Identify and asses emerging opportunities and market trends at national and international levels to position the institution for sustained growth and success
- Collaborate with relevant parties in originating, structuring and developing Islamic Capital Market products, ensuring they are in compliance with Shariah principles and regulatory guidelines
- Liaise and coordinate with all internal stakeholders including the Board. Ensure that the Board are informed on business matters, potential risks, compliance, legal and regulatory concerns
- Cultivate and maintain strong external relationships with regulators, partners, clients, and other key stakeholders. Represent the institution as required, attending functions and industry events
- Contribute to a sound corporate governance through personal conduct and ability to provide adequate oversight and ensure activities are consistent with business strategy, risk appetite and policies approved by the board
- Identify and nurture key talents within the institution and create opportunities for their professional growth and advancement
To succeed in the Chief Executive Officer (Islamic) role, it is essential that you have prior experience and exposures in Islamic Capital Market.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field. Qualifications in Islamic finance is preferred
- At least 20 years of experience in the financial services industry preferably with proven track record of executive leadership
- Strong knowledge of financial markets, Islamic finance principles, fixed income securities, and capital markets
- Proficiency in Arabic or other languages relevant to Islamic finance markets is be advantageous
- Experience in structuring Sukuk issuance and experience in international banking/cross-border transactions, origination and engagement are a plus
- Visionary leadership with prior experience working in multicultural environment and the ability to inspire and motivate teams
- High level of integrity and ethical conduct
